Abstract

1,033,112. Crimping tongs. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 4, 1965 [May 4, 1964], No. 18422/64. Heading B4W. [Also in Division E2] A crimping tool comprises a casing 1 having an opening 2 for insertion of parts to be crimped and an actuating arm 7 pivoted on the casing and spring-biased outwardly from it, pivotal movement of the arm 7 against its spring biasing force effecting through a toggle link 8 movement of a slidably mounted crimping jaw 4 within the casing towards a relatively fixed crimping jaw 3 within the casing. A pawl 13 and ratchet 14 interposed between the casing 1 and actuating arm 7 is arranged to release on full crimping pressure having been applied by the jaws. The toggle link 8 is pivotally connected at 10 to the actuating arm 7 by an eccentric pivot pin which can be rotatably adjusted to take up wear.
