A pair of handbag frames 1, 2, Fig. 3 are hinged on a pin 6 with a spring 5, Fig. 5, between the frame ends and around the pin whereby when the bag closure fasteners 8 snap past each other the stress in the frames is absorbed by the springs. The frames are grooved on both faces at 9, 10 so that sewing thread passing through holes 11 to secure the bag to the frames is protected.
