Abstract

1,031,297. Lithographic printing plates produced by photographic processes. GEVAERT PHOTO-PRODUCTEN N.V. Dec.3, 1962 [Dec.1, 1961], No. 45607/62. Headings G2C and G2M. Lithographic printing plates are obtained by vacuum-depositing a hydrophilic continuous metal layer of maximum thickness 50p on to a flexible support; forming an oleophilic silver image thereon by the silver complex diffusion transfer process with the metal layer as receiving sheet, the metal being effective in the reduction of the silver halide; and treating the image layer with a hydrophilic lithographic composition. The flexible support may be made of paper, hydrophobic metals or various plastics and the hydrophilic metal may be Cr, Ni, Al, Pb, My or stainless steel or a mixture of aluminium with minor proportions of cadmium or palladium. In examples the support is subbed polyethylene terephthalate on which is deposited a 5 to 6 micron aluminium coating.
