Abstract

1,031,111. Kerbs; crash barriers. ABERDEEN CONCRETE CO. Ltd. March 25, 1963 [April 6, 1962], No. 13240/62. Heading E1G. A kerb, road divider or safety barrier comprises a row of blocks 1 held together by a cable 2 passing through aligned holes therein, the cable 2 being anchored by nuts 12 on ring bolts 9. During erection the cable is tensioned by a screw jack 14 while a slotted plate 13 is fitted behind the nut 12. Each end block has an enlarged hole 8 and may have a dovetail recess 7 to receive a cover block 21. Transverse holes 6 facilitate handling, and the undersides of the blocks are bevelled to provide drainage channels.
