Abstract

1,030,752. Guanidines. PFIZER Ltd. May 22, 1963, [May 22, 1962], No. 19677/62. Heading C2C. The invention comprises compounds of the general formula and their non-toxic mineral and organic acid addition salts thereof in which R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are each H, Cl, Br, I or C 1-6 -alkyl or -alkoxy, each of R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are H or C 1-6 -alkyl, Xis-(CH 2 ) n - where n is 1-6, -CH 2 NH- or -CH 2 CH 2 NHR<SP>5</SP> and R<SP>6</SP> are each H or C 1-6 -alkyl, C 2-6 -acyl, or together, with the N atoms to which they are attached, they form a heterocyclic ring, and R<SP>7</SP> is H or Me and the preparation thereof by reacting an appropriate 2-sulphonoyloxy-alkyl- 1,4-benzodioxan with an appropriate guanidine or an appropriate aminoalkyl benzodioxan with an S-alkyl isothiouronium salt. Pharmaceutical compositions having hypotensive activity comprise the guanidines of the invention and an acceptable carrier. The compositions may be formulated as tablets, capsules, elixirs, suspensions or solutions for parenteral administration. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 996,708.
