Abstract
1,030,081. Mechanical garages; roller-way conveyers. A. SERMET. Aug. 24, 1964, No. 34470/64. Headings B8A and B8E. A garage comprises a structure 3. Fig. 2, having roller units 4 and 5 upon which are movably supported platforms 2 for the vehicles, the roller units being supported on a base-plate 6 by ball or needle bearings 7 for movement about vertical axes. The roller unit 4 comprises a single roller and the unit 5 two rollers 12, 13 rotatable on a shaft 14, the roller 12 being driven by a motor through a lower bevel wheel 10, a vertical shaft 8 and an upper bevel wheel 11. Fig. 3 shows the distribution of the roller units 4 and 5 over the floor space of the garage. The drive of the roller units 5 may be effected from a central control, the position of the platforms being indicated by a signalling system. Alternatively, the platform may be moved manually. Each floor of a multi-storey garage may have roller units 4 and 5, lifts being provided for vertical movement of the vehicles.
