Abstract

1,030,058. Jointing by stamping. AMP Inc. Jan. 6, 1965 [Jan. 30, 1964], No. 502/65 Heading B3H. [Also in Division H2] A tool for securing wires within the tapered C-housing 1 of an electrical connector, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), comprises an anvil 8, Fig. 3 (not shown), having abutments 11, 12 for different sizes of housing, and a blade 13 against which the wedge-core 2 of the connector is driven by a plunger 9 to form a tongue 6 preventing withdrawal of the core. The plunger 9 may be shaped to swage the adjacent end of the housing 1 over the wedge, or this may be done with a hammer. The plunger 9 may be driven by a hammer or by an explosive cartridge, as in Specification 969,567.
