1,029,845. Steering vehicles; spring suspensions. BOFORS A.B. Feb. 8, 1965 [Feb. 10, 1964], No. 5438/65. Headings B7D and B7H. The four steerable wheels of a straddle carrier or other vehicle are each carried on a tubular shaft 2 which is keyed at 13 to a sleeve 12 so that it is rotatable with but vertically displaceable relative to the sleeve 12, the sleeve being mounted in the vehicle frame by ball bearing 15 and having a steering arm 3 connected by one of the links 4 and rods 7 to the interconnecte d steering wheels 6. Vertical movement of each wheel is controlled by a dual rate spring 19, 20 mounted between discs 21, 25. The latter is secured to sleeve 12 by a pin 24 passing through a slot in shaft 2.
