Abstract

A spring comprises a plurality of pairs of cup-like members 1 formed of a resilient material such as natural or synthetic rubber or synthetic plastic, each pair being assembled with the rims of the respective cup-like members in engagement and the pairs being superposed one upon the other to form a succession of hollow bodies. In the construction shown, the base of each cup-like member is provided with a counterbored aperture. The cup-like members are held against lateral relative displacement by a bolt 8 passing through the apertures, the head of the bolt being welded to one frame member 2 and the opposite end of the bolt being connected to another frame member 3 by a nut 11. In a modification (Fig. 2, not shown), the rims of each pair of cup-like members are provided with complementary steps to hold each cup-like member of one pair from lateral relative movement. Further only the uppermost cuplike member is secured to the frame member 2 by means of a nut, bolt and washer. The spring may be incorporated in vehicle suspensions or in machine mountings. The bolt may be replaced by any other suitable fixing member, eg. a rivet.
