Abstract

1,028,191. Mounting bearings. LIMIT MANUFACTURING (HOLDINGS) Ltd. and R. L. CATON. Jan. 3, 1964 [Jan. 4, 1963], No. 582/63. Heading F2A. A mounting for a ball, roller or plain bearing consists of an annular member 3 of metal or plastics material formed with fingers 16 extending substantially axially, to engage the bearing. Adjacent fingers may extend in the same or opposite directions and fingers, or a sleeve, may be provided on the outer edge of the member, for engagement with the inner surface of a housing in which the bearing is to be mounted. The outer edge may be polygonal, e.g. hexagonal. A thrust washer 4 may be provided, and the member 3 may be held in the housing by a circlip or split ring, or by peening the edge of the housing. The bearing is preferably a spherical self-aligning bearing, and the housing and thrust washer may also be of plastics material.
