Abstract
1,028,140. Image pick-up tubes. FERNSEH G.m.b.H. June 12, 1964 [June 14, 1963], No. 24493/64. Heading H1D. A focusing coil system for image orthicon tubes produces a focusing field with at least one field intensity maximum in the deflecting section of higher value than that of the field intensity in the photo-cathode plane and a minimum field intensity between the target and photocathode. The field is depicted in Fig. 3 (not shown). As shown in Fig. 2, tube 10 contains field mesh 11, target 12, auxiliary electrode 13, lens electrodes 14 and 15, and photo-cathode 16. For achieving the above focusing conditions there is provided a front coil S with an iron screen E, which together with coil 1 produces the increased field intensity in the photocathode plane. Coils 2, 3, 4 produce the field intensity minimum between photo-cathode and target and the field intensity maximum in the deflecting section. Coil 6 is the deflecting coil. An auxiliary coil 5 produces a local field intensity increase in front of the first dynode so that the dynode structure becomes less visible. Specific data for the coils and focusing field are given. There may be two maxima in the deflecting section (Fig. 3).
