Abstract
1,027,197. Fuelling reactors. ELECTRICITE DE FRANCE (SERVICE NATIONAL). Dec. 31, 1964 [Jan. 9, 1964], No. 53006/64. Heading G4C. Fuel elements transferred by a grab (not shown) between channels 18 in the reactor core 21 and the entry 42 of a standpipe 2 are guided by a fixed structure comprising tubes 16 leading to individual channels and opening at different positions into a central tube 10 extending from the standpipe. The selection of the desired tube 16 for refuelling a particular channel 18 is made by inserting a selected tubular routing member 26 having a lateral opening 28 communicating with the selected tube 16 and also having a recess 30 for engagement by the grab. The member 26 rests upon an annular abutment 22 secured to the assembly 10, 16 and its correct orientation is assured by providing the abutment bearing surface with two helical portions 32, 32<1> which have over half a turn the same slope as one another but with opposite hands, their ends being common, the lower end of the member 26 being similarly shaped. The tube selection may be alternatively or additionally made by interposing a selected spacing member (Fig. 3, not shown) between the abutment 22 and the member 26, the two ends of the spacing member having helical portions corresponding to the portions 32, 32<1>.
