Abstract
1,026,793. Delivering measured quantities of granular material. DERION Ltd. Dec. 12, 1962 [Dec. 14, 1961], No. 44876/61. Heading B8N. A device for metering granular material comprises a delivery rotor 6 and a metering rotor 2 adapted to limit the charge of material entering the pockets between the blades of the delivery rotor. The metering rotor is provided with a larger number of vanes than the delivery rotor so that the capacity of the metering rotor is less than that of the delivery rotor. The rotor 6 is continuously rotated and arranged so that the tip of a blade 7 strikes the end of a blade 8 causing the rotor 2 to intermittently rotate and discharge the contents of one pocket into one pocket of the delivery rotor. In a modification, instead of the blades of both rotors meshing, the metering rotor may be indexed around by means of a Geneva mechanism. Alternatively, the rotor may be continuously rotated via a direct drive from the shaft of the rotor 6 or, independently, by a motor.
