Abstract

1,026,420. Continuous casting-machines. SCHLOEMANN A.G. Feb. 18, 1964 [Feb. 18, 1963], No. 6792/64. Heading B3F. The displaceable receiving appliance 5 for receiving lengths of severed castings in a vertical casting plant is operatively connected with a displaceable casting guide 9 which is capable of being brought close up to the severing means 4. The guide 9 is pushed upwardly by the foot 5 which is counterweighted at 7a and driven by drive 19 to receive the end of the issuing casting. The foot 5 and guide 9 are then lowered by the pressure of the casting while it is being severed by the device 4, the guide 9 being halted at its lower limit by stops 12 while the foot continues until the severed length is free of the guide and may be pushed by the device 13 on to a carriage 14. The carriage is then drawn upwardly by the cable 18 so that the casting comes to lie horizontally on a live roller table. A starter bar may be introduced from the carriage 14 on to the foot 5 by which it is raised upwardly.
