Abstract

1,024,776. Calibrating instruments; power measurement. W. H. PERKINS. July 22, 1964 [July 23, 1963], No. 29073/63. Heading G1U. [Also in Division A5]. Electromedical diathermy apparatus comprises a pair of spaced electrodes 2, 3 connected to a high frequency current generator 1, and a high frequency current meter 8 in series with one of the electrodes, the meter being calibrated to indicate the required generator output corresponding to a predetermined electric field held between the electrodes. The calibration is effected by inserting a meter unit 9, calibrated to indicate field intensity, between the electrodes and calibrating the high frequency current meter 8 to indicate the generator output corresponding to the required electric field. The meter unit used for calibrating the high frequency current meter comprises a microammeter having a crystal diode 12 and a resistor 11 is parallel with it. Spacer rods 13, 14 of insulating material extend from opposite sides of the meter casing which is of insulating material. The meter is located in the desired position for calibration by arranging it so that each of the spacer rods touches an insulating casing 6, 7 of an electrode.
