Abstract
102,457. Mohr, G. W. Feb. 4, 1916, [Convention date]. Ventilators.-A ventilator for attachment to the porthole of a ship, lighthouse, &c., consists of a valve and baffle chamber 13 above a casing 9, which has transparent walls 10 and a door 11 for giving access to its interior and for allowing direct ventilation. The valve 20 is a light ball rising in a cage 18 up to a seat 23, and the casing 9 is such as to enclose the usual port-light 4 and shutter 5. In stormy weather, the window 4 and shutter 5 being open and the door 11 shut, air and water &c. enter by the port 2, the casing 9, and chamber 13, passing the valve 20, hood 24, baffles 27, a screen 28, and an adjustable cover 29. Seaweed is caught by the screen 14. In a modification, the chamber 13 is arranged at the side of the casing 9, which has a drain 32.
