Abstract

Esters of dipropylene glycol with organic acids are prepared by an esterification process in which a tin phosphide or a tin salt is used as an esterification catalyst. Specified tin phosphides are stannous phosphide, tin triphosphide and tetra-tin triphosphide, and a specified tin salt is stannous oxalate. Examples are given of the manufacture of dipropylene glycol dibenzoate.
