Abstract

1,023,933. Cigarette packages. H. J. FROHLING. Feb. 15, 1965 [Feb. 26, 1964], No. 6373/65. Heading B8C. Rod-shaped articles, e.g.cigarettes,wrapped in a foil wrapper 1 (Fig. 1) are placed in open top containers 12 and the open top closed by a seal 2 so positioned that it may be torn by a tear strip or tape 5 attached to the foil 1. In the form shown, the tear strip or tape 5 with a grip tab 6 is part of a continuous band stuck to the inside of paper-backed aluminium foil before the foil is cut into blanks 1. The foil is preferably severed at 8 so that when the tear string 5 is pulled the portion 4 of the foil is removed. Alternatively a weakened line may be provided to the right (in Fig. 1) of the seal 2.
