Abstract

1,023,994. Cigarette-making machines. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO. March 12, 1963 [March 12, 1962], No. 9764/63. Heading A2C. Tobacco is detached from a drum 1 by a roller 7 and fed to a blower drum 9 which blows it towards a suction drum 12, heavy unwanted particles falling through a tube 15 into a hopper 16. The wanted tobacco is detached from the drum 12 and thrown on to a conveyer 21 by a wheel 17 for conveyance to a rod forming mechanism 19. The drum 9 is provided with a shutter 10 and an arcuate air directing element 14. Suction is applied to the drum 12 through a shield 13 and duct 25.
