Abstract

To allow of a mineral-mining machine to cut in both directions along a longwall face without changing the direction of travel of the machine along the face having to reverse the picks in the mounts on a cutter drum rotatable about a vertical axis the drum is so supported in the machine that it may be rotated about a horizontal axis when the change occurs.
