A plastics insulater between a core 6 and the outer corrugated tube 9 comprises a strip 5 with supports 7 at intervals carrying rectangular heads 8 (Figs. 1A and 1B, not shown). The strip may be of polyethylene and machined from an injection-moulded strip.
