A carton is erected by combining two blanks, which each consist of a bottom wall panel, a pair of side wall panels and top wall panels extending from the side wall panels, so that the bottom wall panels are superimposed and the top panels overlie one another. A handle flap 10 in top panel 6 passes through a slit in panel 7, and a further handle flap 21 in panel 18 together with the handle flap 10 is passed through slit 23 in the uppermost panel 19.
