Abstract
1,022,453. Sawing. SAMUEL FOX & CO. Ltd. Feb. 4, 1965 [March 16, 1964], No. 11082/64. Heading B5L. A circular metal cutting saw comprises teeth having an included angle A, Fig. 2 (not shown), of between 70 and 110 degrees with a radius R at the root of each tooth which is not less than 30% of the circumferential pitch P of the teeth. The saw may be used for the hot cutting of steel workpieces, the included angle preferably being between 90 and 100 degrees. In a preferred embodiment having a pitch P of 1 inch, the included angle is 94 degrees, the cutting angle B is 40 degrees and the root radius R is <SP>3</SP>/ 8 inch, the large radius improving the resistance to root cracking. A known saw is described having a pitch of ¥ inch, an included angle A of 50 degrees, a cutting angle B of 5 degrees and a root radius of 0À11 inch.
