Strainers fitted in pipes; strainers having sheet straining materials.-A strainer for liquid fuel comprises a cylinder of gauze surrounding and supported by a perforated metallic tube. The supporting-tube t, Fig. 1, is made from a length of round steel or other suitable metal and is perforated with holes h. A piece of tubing may be used in which case one end must be plugged. A layer of gauze g is placed over the tube and is secured by a coil of wire or by soldering. The open end of the tube is formed with slits l to enable it to be sprung into the hole p, Fig. 3. To increase the effective area of the gauze, the holes h may he connected by grooves turned in the wall of the tube t.
