Abstract
1,022,170. Dehydrated foods. CANADIAN PATENTS & DEVELOPMENT Ltd. Nov. 20, 1962 [Nov. 28, 1961; Feb. 6, 1962], No. 43844/62. Heading A2D. Readily reconstituted cooked food products are made by forming a thin layer of meat, cheese, whole egg, egg white or egg yolk and drying the layer to low moisture content. The layer is preferably not more than 0.015 inch thick, and may be formed in the nip of a pair of rollers. The rollers may be heated drums, the material being deposited as perforated layer on each drum, and the heat of the drums serving to dry and cook the material. The material may be mixed preliminarily with a cooked carbohydrate material exemplified by mashed, cooked potato, pre-cooked starch and precooked cereal. The dehydrated products may be compacted.
