Abstract

1,021,692. Printing processes; pictures. I.C.I. INCOME CASH INCREASE S.A. Oct. 19, 1962 [May 26, 1962], No. 39721/62. Headings B6C and B6X. In a printing process for making a translucent picture on a sheet of translucent paper the surface to be printed is prepared by coating it with a gloss varnish which may be oil based and obtained by heating plastics material of high molecular weight, e.g. phenolic polyester or amino plastics, with oils, such as linseed or wood oil, to which a dissolved drying medium or siccative is added. The printed impression is covered with at least one transparent protective layer, e.g. a glued sheet of cellulose acetate, or a layer of a vaporized transparent lacquer. In order to increase the translucency of the sheet the non-printed surface may be treated with latex or a transparent lacquer in the form of an alcohol or nitro cellulose based gloss varnish.
