Abstract

1,021,360. Inductors. UNION METAL WORKS Ltd. Jan. 21, 1965, No. 2676/65. Heading H1T. A ballast choke has its core formed of two co-planar sets of rectangular laminations having their air-gapped sides 12a (Fig. 1) placed together to form the centre limb of a shell-type core the length of the lamination windows L1 being sufficiently greater than the length of the winding bobbin L to allow the laminations to be assembled in the bobbin with the air gaps outside it. The base 15 and cover 14 forming the metal housing are shaped to contact the core yokes for cooling purposes (Fig. 2, not shown).
