In a liquid level indicator a probe comprising a rod 45 concentrically and spatially disposed in a sleeve 46 is arranged in an electric circuit to a warning device so that when the level 71 of the liquid 43 is above a certain level current flows through the liquid 43 between the rod 45 and sleeve 46 and when the liquid level falls below the certain level the circuit is broken. Embodiments are described in which a lamp or other warning device is operated when the liquid level is either above or below the certain level.
