Abstract

102,110. Lambourne, A. E., and Warri ck & Co., J. May 16, 1916. Motor cycles, tricars, and the like; motors, mounting or supporting.-Carrier tricycles &c. are provided with an auxiliary motor unit mounted beneath the carrier box and adapted to drive the front wheels The motor 11 is carried by pairs of brackets 12, 13 attached to the frame member 4 and wheel axle 6, and drives a transverse shaft 15 by chain gearing 18 enclosed in an aluminium or other light casing 19. The shaft 15, provided with a differential gear 17, is mounted in adjustable brackets 16 and drives the front wheels by intermeshing gears 20, 21 also enclosed in light casings 22. The exhaust-silencer 23 is secured to the front of the frame. The motor and brakes 28 are controlled from the handle-bar. In a modification, the brackets 13 are replaced by pivoted links, and the brackets 12 are attached to the frame by slotted connexions which permit adjustment of the motor to tighten the driving-chain.
