Abstract

A draughting machine comprises a pair of pivotally interconnected parallelogram linkages each comprising a pair of parallel links (Fig. 1, not shown), the free ends of one pair of links being connected to a protractor 20 having an angular scale round its periphery and a series of notches 24 on its underside at selected angular intervals, e.g. 150, the protractor being pivoted on a stem 26 of a base member 28,which carries two rules at right angles to each other. The base member is provided with a leaf spring 44 which is the same width as the notches 24 and serves to hold the protractor in one of the selected angular positions with respect to the base member, a knob 38 being provided for rotation of the base member 28. The spring 44 may be released from the notches 24 by depression of a button 46. The shank 48 of the button and the hole in the base member through which it projects are provided with complementary square portions so that the button may be depressed and turned through 180 degrees to hold the spring 44 out of engagement with the notches 24.
