Abstract
1,020,784. Toy balloons. A. A. S. SHARP and M. J. COOPER. Jan. 29, 1964 [Feb. 5, 1963], No. 4560/63. Heading A6S. Means for sealing an inflated toy balloon comprises a rigid plug of low density material having a circular portion of a diameter greater than the necks of the balloons it is adapted to seal. Fig. 1 shows a simple ball with string 2 attached which may be inserted into the balloon with the neck rolled back as at 7. An inserting element 5 may be used which may be slotted lengthwise to facilitate the passing of the string through it. A discshaped element for sealing is shown with reference to Fig. 2. In this case the disc is inserted edgeways through the neck 3 into the balloon and then pulled back squarely-into the neck by the string 2. Fig. 4 illustrates a plug incorporating a valve comprising a disc 15 of flexible material which is, lifted against a stud 4 by incoming air pressure but is forced back against apertures 16 by air attempting to escape.
