Abstract

A boron trifluoride slow neutron detector is removably mounted within a casing containing a neutron moderator mass of paraffin. The latter moderates fast neutrons which are then registered in the detector. The paraffin is contained in a cadmium shell which absorbs the incident thermal neutrons which may be measured by the detector after removal from the moderator.
