Abstract

1,019,313. Optical eyepieces. CARL ZEISS-STIFTUNG, [trading as CARL ZEISS]. Aug. 3, 1962 [Aug. 5, 1961], No. 29840/62. Heading G2J. An eyepiece with an angular field of at least 60 degrees and having its exit pupil AP sufficiently spaced from the rear lens surface r 12 as to allow use thereof by spectacle wearers, comprises a front divergent component consisting of a convergent meniscus L I concave towards the front and a biconcave lens L II the two lenses may be cemented together, a biconvex single lens L III where rear surface has the stronger curvature, a convergent component consisting of a divergent meniscus L IV concave towards the rear cemented to a biconvex lens L V and a convergent meniscus L VII concave towards the rear. Optical data are given for one embodiment as shown, it being noted that r 2 = r 3 , r 8 cr 9 , and d 2 = d 9 = 0.
