Abstract

A porous acoustical tile comprises an expanded particulate mineral aggregate bonded by a fired thin coating containing bentonitic and kaolinitic clays, and contains 60-80% perlite or substitutes (defined) 13-26% kaolinitic clay and 6-14% bentonitic clay. Deflocculants can be present e.g. sodium carbonate, silicate or hexametaphosphate. The surface can be glazed.
