Abstract

1,016,263. Shuttering for casting floors; shores. SYMONS Mfg. CO. Nov. 30, 1962, No. 45402/62. Headings E1E and E1S. Shuttering for casting floors comprises panels 16 supported flush with the upper surface of beams 14 by vertically movable angle iron rails 24 on the beams which are supported on brackets 30 on the top of vertically adjustable shores 12. The rails 24 are mounted on the beams by curved slots 246, Fig. 19, so that theymay be lowered to release the panel 16 and leave the concrete supported by the beams. The brackets 30 support the beams by channels 122, Fig. 8, on which they are secured by studs 35 the beams being of I-section the webs of which are engaged between angles 134. The top section 56, Fig. 4, of each shore 12 is vertically adjustable by means of a screw 84 screwing in a nut 86 on top of the next lower section 54, and to adjust is turned by holes 108 or the square end 110 of the screw 84. The shore is composed of several sections spigoted together and is filled with reinforcing material 102. The rails 24 are secured in position by pins and lowered by a lever, Fig. 15 (not shown) engaging a hole 262, Fig. 19, in the beam and an abutment 264 on the rail. The beams may be longitudinally adjustable by means of end sections 224 of I-section which are slidable between two channels 216 back to back which make up the middle section and which are secured together by a short I-beam 204. The parts are clamped in adjusted position by bolts 234 engaging slots 230 in the end sections. Brackets 250 mounted by means of angle slots 254 support the panels 16 on the end sections. The ends of the panels 16 normally rest on the rails 24 but the sides may rest on these rails and the ends on wooden members 42, Figs. 1, 36, supported by brackets 300 on the lower flanges of the beams, one edge of a flange engaging in slots 310 and being secured by locking plates 320 engaging the other edge of the beam, the locking plate being secured by a nail through holes 332, 330. Adjustable members 42 are described in Figs. 43-45 (not shown).
