Abstract

1,016,116. Oscillating electric motors. SOC. D'ELECTRONIQUE ET D'AUTOMATISME. Sept. 3, 1964 [Sept. 11, 1963], No. 36108/64. Heading H2A. An electric motor arranged to oscillate through a predetermined span by repeated reversal of the rotor current comprises a stator carrying one or more pairs of field poles 55 ... 58 arranged in alternate polarity in only a predetermined span of the stator, and a rotor 51 carrying a winding of flat conductors arranged on an insulating carrier over only a pre-determined arc of the rotor, the conductors being arranged in half turns on both sides of the carrier and so interconnected from side-to-side as to form a series wave winding, and the arrangement providing that at the mid-point of its oscillating movement the winding is placed centrally about the field poles. The " rotor " may be a flexible belt or looped band, or the motor may have either a cylindrical air gap or, as shown, a flat annular air gap, and the poles are created by permanent magnets. The winding conductors and their interconnecting strips may be printed. The rotor supply is fed via brushes 52, 53 from the movable contacts of tube switches 59 forming part of a relay 60 whose energization is controlled by two relays 64, 67 in response to sequential engagement of two contacts 62, 63 by a blade 61 carried by the earthed rotor shaft 54.
