A roll holder comprises a pair of jaws 1, 2 supported e.g. on pivots 11, 12 or connected to the ends of a leaf spring or with sliding movement, on a mounting plate 13 and spring-loaded at 19 so that the jaws, carrying end balls 4, 5 enter the ends of the roll and allow it to rotate, the jaws being formed with adjacent extensions 17, 18 whereby the jaws are manually moved for replacing a roll.
