Abstract
1,015,324. Foundry plant. HERMAN PNEUMATIC MACHINE CO. June 5, 1962 [June 19, 1961; July 3, 1961 (2)], No. 21629/62. Heading B3F. Elongated flasks, e.g. for centrifugal pipe moulds, are successively advanced through mould forming, casting and stripping stations in a closed path with their longitudinal axes horizontal, the flasks being advanced during at least a portion of the path along a downwardly inclined guideway while engaged to inhibit them gaining momentum. Empty flasks 29 are fed in pairs from sloping rails 103 into a moulding machine and from thence to centrifugal casting rolls 62. From the centrifugal casting station the flasks are fed in spaced-apart relationship by the helical impeller 54 to a stop 78, from which they are released in pairs to an elevator 85. Arms 98, Fig. 3, carrying driven rollers 124 are rotated upwardly by piston 101 to uptilt the pair of flasks while rotating them about their longitudinal axes while the mould sand is disintegrated by air, sand, grit, shot or other blast through nozzles 130, allowing the casting to leave the flask under the force of gravity and be received upon a conveyer 133. The arms 98 then return the flasks to the horizontal position and the elevator lifts them to an upper inclined railway 134. The flasks are controlled in their descent to an elevator 113 at the other end of the railway by crank-driven indexing wheels 143, 153 and a helical impeller 138. The elevator 113 lowers each flask in turn to the inclined rails 103 leading to the moulding machine, for another cycle.
