Abstract
1,015,117. Induction motors. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Oct. 1, 1963 [March 1, 1963], No. 8361/63. Heading H2A. The stator of a four-pole, single-phase F.H.P. motor has 32 slots of 10 degrees pitch. It is conventional to use 36 slots in order that the same stamping and winding machines may be used as for 3-phase machines. According to the invention, the same slot pitch of 10 degrees is used, but four slots are left unpunched to give a satisfactory four-pole, single-phase spacing. The main windings are shown in solid lines and the auxiliary windings in broken lines. Improved starting is obtained by a non-symmetrical arrangement of slots into alternate groups of six and ten slots (Fig. 2, not shown).
