Abstract

1,014,525. Aerial junction-boxes. BELLING & LEE Ltd. May 15, 1964 [May 17, 1963], No. 19673/63. Heading H4A. A junction box of mouldable plastics material suitable for television aerials comprises a detachable lid 23, Fig. 3 in which a coaxial cable 53 is secured and terminated, and an aerial support part 1, Fig. 1, containing the ears 15, 16 on the ends of folded dipole aerial 17, and bolted through hole 4 to the aerial cross-arm. When the lid carrying the cable is put on the aerial support part and is fixed by screws 32, 33, electrical contact is made between the aerial ends and the cable. The lid has moulded pillars 37, 38 (Fig. 2, not shown) projecting inwardly from its lower wall 36 with threaded bores for screws 41, 42 which tighten cable clamps 46, 49 about the braid and secure contact strip 54. The lid has also a boss 43 with a threaded bore for screw 45 which secures contact strip 57 and cable centre conductor 63. Holes 56, 59 at the ends of strips 54, 57 overlie plain holes 28, 29 in moulded pillars 26, 27 projecting inwardly from side walls 24, 25. The aerial support part has inwardly projecting pillars 5, 6, Fig. 1, with threaded bores 7, 8. The slotted ears 15, 16 on the ends of the aerial overlie the faces of pillars 5, 6 and are located by turned-down projections 13, 14 entering slots 10, 11 therein. The aerial support part is provided with ribs 2, 3 on its back face for fittng about a cross-arm of square cross-section. A slot 21 in the lower wall receives the cable when the lid is fitted.
