Abstract

1,014,234. Convection air heaters. AMERICAN RADIATOR AND STANDARD SANITARY CORPORATION. Feb. 25, 1964 [March 6, 1963], No. 7857/64. Heading F4S. A convection air heater comprises casing members 10 and 31 defining a longitudinal bottom air inlet and a top air outlet, an arcuate damper 30 controlling the outflow of air pivotally connected to an upper bracket arm 27 of a support member 18, and a control unit including a temperature-sensing device 52 which through operating means 56 and 58 controls the damper, said control unit being housed in a separate casing 62 which is movably attached to the heater casing. The operating means is attached to the damper only by a U-shaped clip 60 which is readily detachable for easy adjustment of the location of the control unit. The heating means comprises a finned tube 29 supported on a lower bracket arm 28. The damper is so constructed that only a minimum of effort is required to move it, this effort being supplied by multiplying the movement of the temperature-sensing means 52, which may consist of a bi-metallic strip, wax-filled chamber or bellow, Figs. 5, 6, 7 (not shown), through a system of levers.
