Abstract
1,013,724. Retractive switches. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. April 9, 1964, No. 14648/64. Heading H2B. On a motor vehicle steering column, depression of a horn ring 27 at any point causes the cylindrical element 26 of a manually movable member 25 to flex a diaphragm contact spring 23 such that an inner radial part 31 thereof moves through the central opening 33 in an insulating plate 21 into contact with a contact plate 15, thereby sounding the horn. The assembly of member 25, spring 23 and insulating plate 21 is detachable as a unit from the contact plate 15 (Fig. 3, not shown). Spring-pressed contacts 41, 43 connect the spring 23 with a slip ring 47 fixed to the hub of the steering wheel.
