Abstract

1,012,083. Extruding. BALDWIN-LIMA-HAMILTON CORPORATION. June 25, 1964 [July 3, 1963], No. 26408/64. Heading B3P. In an extrusion press which uses a dummy block 20 at the front of its extrusion stem 26, means 34, 42 are provided to sense the absence or misplacement of the dummy block. The rear surface of the block has a recess 52, Fig. 2 (not shown), to receive the end of a spring-loaded rod 34. If the block is missing or misplaced, the rod 34 is forced back against its spring 46 and a cam surface 38 moves a trip rod 42 to actuate a switch 64 and stop the press.
