Abstract

1,011,062. Photographic silver halide emulsions. EASTMAN KODAK CO. May 15, 1962 [May 15, 1961], No. 18758/62. Drawings to Specification. Heading G2C. An "internal" type photographic emulsion is prepared by blending a chemically sensitized, coarse-grained (i.e. of grain size greater than 0.8 Á), silver halide emulsion with a fine-grained (i.e. of grain size not greater than 0.4 Á) silver halide emulsion, and holding the mixture until the fine grained emulsion has deposited as a shell on the coarse grains to give an emulsion of substantially uniform grain size. The emulsions may be blended with a silver halide solvent such as potassium bromide and the blends may be held at temperatures of 40-70‹F. for up to 24 hours. The coarse-grained emulsion may be chemically sensitized with a sulphur or gold compound.
