Abstract

1,010,720. Printing apparatus. PAPER CONVERTING MACHINE CO. Inc. Oct. 1, 1964 [Dec. 3, 1963], No. 40034/64. Heading B6C. Printing surfaces.-The ends 43a, 43b, Fig. 6, of a flexible printing plate 28 are secured within a longitudinal generally dove-tail shaped recess 32 in a printing cylinder 18 by means of a pair of elongated clamping members 36, 37 arranged sideby-side in said recess, both said members being urged towards the wall 35 of the recess by spring means. The member 37 is urged towards the wall 35 by springs 38 extending through the member 36, and the member 36 is urged against the member 37 by springs, Fig. 7 (not shown, located in recesses in the member 36 and co-operating with a wall 34 of the recess 32. A projection 42, which may be rectangular, is provided on the member 36 and the bottom surfaces of the members may be covered with molybdenum disulphate tape to reduce friction. Both members are provided at their ends with slots to enable them to be forced apart. The end 43b of the plate 28 may alternatively be secured to the upper surface of the member 36 by adhesive, Fig. 9 (not shown). Inking apparatus.-A train for delivering ink from a fountain roller 19, Fig. 1, provided with a blade 20, to the printing cylinder 18 comprises a feed roller 21, two longitudinallyvibrating rollers 22, 25, a pair of ink distributing rollers 23, 24, and a pair of forme-inking rollers 26, 27.
