Abstract
1,010,300. Elastic-fluid turbines. SOC. RATEAU. Jan. 21, 1963 [Jan. 25, 1962], No. 2595/63. Heading F1T. An elastic fluid turbine has an internal casing in one piece enclosing at least the first stages of the turbine, and at least one external casing. the turbine stator blades being supported in the internal casing by diaphragms each made in at least two sections and mounted in a key system preventing rotation of the diaphragm in the internal casing but permitting free expansion in the radial direction, at least one diaphragm bearing in the axial direction against a first ring within the internal casing surrounding the next rotor disc and stator diaphragm downstream, the said first ring bearing in turn against a second ring against which the diaphragm which the said first ring surrounds bears, the second ring bearing against an abutment removably mounted in the internal casing. A steam turbine, Fig. 9, comprises an annular one piece inner casing E supported within axially divided outer casings E<SP>1</SP>, E<SP>11</SP> by feet V 1 , V<SP>1</SP> and pins Z 1 . The casing E, Fig. 3, supports annular diaphragms D, D 2 , D 3 carrying shaft seals A 2 and spaced axially by rings I, I2 located axially by segmental abutment F, rings M, I<SP>1</SP> and screws M<SP>1</SP>, such that axial thrust on a diaphragm is transmitted to abutment F without acting on the adjacent .diaphragms downstream. The diaphragms, Fig. 4, are axially divided into sectors D<SP>1</SP>, D<SP>11</SP> located circumferentially by projections K and keys H which permit radial expansion. The nozzle blades f<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, are mounted in segments in an annular groove U and retained by rings I<SP>11</SP>, F<SP>1</SP>, F<SP>11</SP> and screws F 1 . A segmental sealing ring G carrying seals A 3 is located by keys N<SP>1</SP> and projections N. Seals Q, W prevent leakage between the diaphragms and casing E. In modifications, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown) the nozzle blades f 1 form a single annular ring mounted at its radially inner edge on the casing E and retained by rings and bolts, or the inner edge is mounted on the sealing ring G. The construction reduces thermal stresses in the casings.
