Abstract

Catalysts useful in oxidizing exhaust gases comprise Pt group metals, e.g. Pt, Pd or Ir or a mixture thereof, applied as 0,01-0,5% to a carrier consisting of a -, g -, c -, #c*, d -, #q, or K-Al2O3 which has been heated to a temperature above 600 DEG C. The crystalline forms of Al2O3 are those described in Journal de Chimie Physique [55 (1958), 341-353].
