Abstract

1,008,572. MASCHINENFABRIK HASENCLEVER A.G. Sept. 29, 1964 [Oct. 24, 1963], No. 39537/64. Heading B3H. In a resistance-heating electric upsetting machine there is provided in the space between the anvil 1 and jaw electrodes 2 means for additionally heating and/or cooling the workpiece. Additional heating means may comprise an induction coil 4 disposed adjacent the anvil electrode 1 which is moved axially by a piston/ cylinder device 3 to produce the upset. The opposite end of the workpiece engages an adjustable abutment 6. Alternatively the anvil 1 may be fixed and the upsetting piston then acts on the opposite end of the workpiece. A spray jet 5 supplied coolant to the remainder of the heated portion of the workpiece. This jet may surround the rod. Specification 1,008,571 is referred to.
