Abstract
1,007,851. Protective arrangements. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Jan. 12, 1962 [Oct. 18, 1960], No. 35673/60. Headings H2F and H2K. A protective arrangement for parallel semiconductor rectifier circuits comprises a comparator relay 9 arranged to compare the rectified current flowing in half the circuits with that flowing in the other half. The relay includes a yoke (not shown) and two bus-bars, indicated at 10, 11 within the yoke. The currents in the bus-bars oppose each other and when the currents are unbalanced, the relay is operated to effect the interruption of the power supply and to give a warning. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which D.C. traction motors M are supplied from a transformer 1 through a parallel biphase circuit including load-sharing reactors 3, fuses 4 and rectifiers 5. In Fig. 2, full-wave rectifier bridges 20 . . . 23 are connected in parallel so that the circuit from half the bridges extends through bus-bar 10 and the circuit from the other half extends through bus-bar 11.
