Abstract

1,006,170. Counting-apparatus. BRANDT AUTOMATIC CASHIER CO. June 2, 1964 [June 20, 1963], No. 22752/64. Heading G4D. [Also in Division B6] Apparatus for feeding and counting banknotes has means for ejecting overlapping notes. Notes to be counted or batched are held in a feed hopper by a spring-pressed plate 19, Fig. 5, feeding being effected by rollers 28, 29, 49, 69, 78 driven at successively higher speeds to reduce the possibility of jamming. The notes are stretched taut on the feed bed (Fig. 8, not shown) and rock lever arm 57, Fig. 4, to operate a switch 58. If notes overlap the arm 57 also operates a doubles switch 59 to energize solenoid 64 and deflect the overlapping notes into a shoot 71. Correctly fed notes pass spoked wheels 86 to be stacked against spring-pressed plate 88, passage over roller 96 operating second count switch 92. The device may count continuously using switch 92 to control a multi-denomination uniselector counter (Fig. 11, not shown) with a visible display 103. Alternatively a switch 104 can be set to count out appropriate batches, shown at 105, control being then transferred to switch 58, which is shunted whenever doubles switch 59 operates. At the end of a batch, solenoid 39 energizes to move plate 18 to the left, Fig. 7, so freeing the notes from feed rollers 28, 29. At the same time plate 33 is lifted to prevent passage of a note from the feed hopper.
